Heart Reef, Australia
This coral reef was discovered on the Great Barrier Reef back in 1975 and has been a popular tourist attraction ever since.
Galesnjak, Dalmatian Coast
Romantics will be hard-pressed to find a more heart-shaped island than Galesnjak. The fact that it’s currently uninhabited doesn’t stop couples from visiting, and the island’s owners hope to host weddings some day.
Tavarua Island Resort, Fiji
Romantics rejoice: Tavarua is one of the few heart-shaped islands where couples can actually stay. The all-inclusive tropical paradise features a private beach, 16 cottages, and plenty of watersports: perfect for a honeymoon.
Sarakiniko Beach, Greece
While Sarakiniko Beach isn’t an island, this heart-shaped beach is located on Milos Island, which is halfway between Athens and Crete. If Milos sounds familiar, that’s where the famous statue of love goddess Aphrodite (aka Venus de Milo) was found. It’s no surprise then that Milos also goes by the “Island of Lovers.”
Mecklenburg Lake District, Germany
This adorable island can be found in Mecklenburg Lake, part of Central Europe’s largest lake region. The island is uninhabited, but don’t let that stop you from a romantic outing by renting a houseboat or canoe to find it.
Anfi del Mar Resort, Spain
The heart-shaped island at Anfi del Mar Resort in the Canary Islands may be man-made, but it’s a heart-shaped island nonetheless. Currently, the only way to access the island is to belong to the resort’s timeshare program.
Flores Island, Indonesia
This little patch of land off of Flores Island doesn’t draw the same attention as its more high-profile cousins, just as Flores Island is overshadowed by Bali. But while you may not be able to visit the heart-shaped isle, you can enjoy some romantic downtime in a tropical region that hasn’t yet been overdeveloped.
Petra Island, New York
This tiny island made headlines in 2013 when rumors flew that Angelina Jolie bought it as a birthday gift for Brad Pitt for nearly $20 million. Alas, the rumor proved false, but luckily the island is still listed for sale on Private Islands Online. About an hour north of New York City, it includes not one, but two houses designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, plus a helicopter pad. The price is “available upon request,” but what’s the price of true love?
