For all you yoga trendsetters out there, we’d like to introduce you to the most cutting edge variation of yoga at the moment. It’s time to try “Goat Yoga”.
That’s right, “Goat Yoga”. This fall, yoga fans who live near Oregon’s Willamette Valley (or have the time and money to visit) can participate in a goat centered yoga class at the No Regrets Farm . The class invites participants to practice traditional yoga poses while surrounded by the peaceful presence of grazing goats.
Goat Yoga is a yoga class that is held in the back field at my farm,” says Lainey Morse, the creator of this new workout. “My goats are all very social and friendly so they graze and sit and lie down next to everyone.”
Not quite convinced by this new trend? According to Morse, the class has been a huge hit among first adaptors. Apparently, the combination of physical exercise, breathing, and stretching reaches a whole new level of zen when practiced in this environment.
“My goats are just very peaceful animals and everyone that comes over leaves stress free and happy. When they chew their cud it’s almost like they go into a meditative state and it’s very soothing to watch and it’s perfect to combine with Yoga,” she says.
What do you think? Would you give “Goat Yoga” a try?
Now, to be clear, the goats don’t actually participate in the yoga. They’re goats. They don’t know how to do downward dog.
