At just a few hours old, Breeze’s mother abandoned him, and he was found wandering around Dartmoor National Park trying to suckle on other horses, before he collapsed from hunger and exhaustion.
Back in 2013, he was taken in to the Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Devon.
There, staff provided Breeze with 24 hour care to nurse him back to health – and gave him his own giant teddy bear, called Buttons, that he could snuggle up with for comfort.
Photos of Breeze and his teddy got shared all over the internet, and he enjoyed a mini moment of fame.
Now, three years later, Breeze is all grown up. He’s a proper, adult pony, thank you very much.
But that doesn’t mean he’s giving up his favourite teddy bear.
This week the Mare and Foal Sanctuary shared a new photo of adult Breeze. For the last three years he’s slept with Buttons by his side every night, and he still brings his bear with him whenever he needs comfort.
Breeze doesn’t care that he’s now bigger than buttons. He doesn’t care that Buttons isn’t quite as plush as he used to be.
Breeze loves Buttons, and he’ll never be too old for his favourite teddy.
